Paisley quality
“Paisley” patterns are the last cry in pashmina market. “Die Berliner Morgenpost” of November 13, 2004 quotes the Chief of KaDeWe's Purchase Department as saying: “Pashmina shawls have already established themselves as a standard, “paisley” and “missoni” patterns are becoming trendy”.
You might have already seen a printed sample and wondered at its extremely decorative representation with an Oriental pattern. Last autumn, during my trip around India I dug out luxury-quality “paisley” pashmina: I mean paisley with an interwoven pattern.
The pattern is woven all through the shawl. This top performance not only requires labor for numerous hours just like the weaving of a carpet does. It also has a practical value: paisley pashmina can be turned inside out and yield a different combination of colors and pattern (“positive” / “negative”).
I based my selection of a pattern on classical samples which have been there for many decades and warmed elegant shoulders. A tip about wear style: paisley pashmina is shown to its best advantage when combined with articles of clothing without patterns. For light (white) clothes I recommend choosing “Harvard” pashmina, the classical “Oxford” pattern matches dark colors well. And if you are at a loss about what to wear with a dark-blue dress I’d put a special “Yale” model against your heart.
